This is probably one of the most polished mysteries in the Inspector Gamache series created by Louise Penny. The plot is rather complicated, there are lots of twists and turns, and some surpises along the way. I found the so-called suspense wearing at times, however—c’mon, the author is not going to kill off or destroy the kind but firm Inspector Gamache. Ian Rankin might, but not Louise Penny. So I wasn’t exactly biting my nails over the success or failure of his plans. Still, a good read that got me through a long trip.
