This is a collection of short stories by the author better-known for writing the Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency series. Smith takes his point of departure for each story from an old photograph, and lets his imagination take it from there. The five stories are generally sweet, or bittersweet, romantic (but not in a bodice-ripping way), and thought-provoking. And like any good short story, there is a little zinger at the end. I read this between other books as a kind of light snack. It worked.
