I liked that the book was set in the PNW and the description of the coastal town of Sparrow, Oregon and their characters was so well written I felt like I was there and was hooked by the first chapter.
The story is about seventeen-year-old named Penny Talbot who lives on a small island next to Sparrow. The town is cursed by the three Swan sisters who were sentenced to death by drowning for the crime of witchery two centuries before. Now, every summer, the sisters return from the dead by possessing the bodies of local teenage girls and using them to lure boys into the harbor, to drown them as an act of revenge on the town. Despite the sinister legend, tourists still flock to Sparrow during this time to see if the story is true. Penny meets a young outsider that is drawn to Sparrow for reasons of his own and together they work to break the spell.
I can see myself reading this again in a few years I enjoyed it so much.
